Students review and expand upon what they learned in last year’s study skills class. For example, they learn how to use diagramming to understand grammatical relationships and improve language proficiency. As well, they experience how presentation skills can enhance class performance. As part of all their other classes, students employ what they learn daily.
In addition to reviewing and expanding on study skills topics from earlier years, students learn about application completion—including writing personal essays, interviewing well, creating a resume, and taking standardized tests. Students also intensively develop their speech writing and presentation skills, culminating in all-school speech. The goal of Study Skills 8 is to help students make a smooth transition to Upper School work and beyond.
