The Wilberforce School is not a boarding school; Wilberforce international students live with relatives or host families from our school community. Host families provide a “home away from home” for our international students.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline for applying?

We accept students on a rolling basis, and continue to admit students until our classes are full. That being said, we recommend applying by the end of July in order to ensure enough time to complete the student visa process.

Does Wilberforce require any entrance exams?

Yes, international students are required to take the Upper School entrance exam, which includes math, writing, and ESL competency. The exam may be taken remotely. We also ask to see a TOEFL score if you have already taken it. Please contact the Admissions Director for more information.

How does Wilberforce conduct student interviews?

We are happy to schedule an in-person interview and a campus tour, or to offer a Skype interview at a convenient time. Students will be asked questions regarding their interest in studying abroad, interest in Wilberforce school, and academic and extracurricular strengths. Students and parents will also have an opportunity to ask their own questions during the interview.

Does Wilberforce offer ESL?

Yes, every international student is paired with an ESL tutor for classroom and conversational help. Sessions focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and are individually tailored to each student’s needs. Students meet with their ESL tutors for one hour four days per week.

How much is international tuition?

Tuition is up to $35,000 per year for international students who require ESL support. Please contact our Admissions Office for more details.

How many international students are there in every class?

In order to ensure a true immersion experience, we accept only 1-2 international students per grade.
