Commencement Speaker 2023: Jake Ashmore

Jake Ashmore is a Lieutenant Colonel and career F-15E fighter pilot in the US Air Force. He received his officer commission in 2006 after graduating from the US Air Force Academy with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Since then, he has served as a mission commander, special operations liaison, and NATO nuclear Delivery Force Commander. He is a graduate of the Air Force’s Fighter Weapon School (TOPGUN) and has over 125 combat missions in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Iraq and other undisclosed locations. Jake is the recipient of numerous combat decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross which is the nation’s highest decoration for extraordinary aerial achievement. He recently commanded the 334th Fighter Squadron where he was responsible for developing and leading a 300-member organization and 22 F-15E Strike Eagles.
Jake has three master’s degrees including a Master of Philosophy in Strategy from the Department of Defense’s premier strategy school and a Master of Public Policy from Princeton University. Jake currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer supporting the defense of the Alaskan NORAD region. Outside the Air Force, Jake serves on the Wilberforce School Head of School Executive Committee (HSEC). He also served as a ruling elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of England and Wales from 2015-2018.
Jake, and his wife Ieva, currently reside in Anchorage, Alaska with their four children Daniel, Becky, Abby, and Ellie. In his free time, Jake loves playing the piano, cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with friends.
