TWS v Hun Upper School Swim Update

 

It was an amazing day of swimming! The final score reported by the officials to NJ.com was Hun 83 - TWS 74. 

We had 12 swimmers compete. It was the 1st meet for 4 of the 12 swimmers. 6 school/team records were broken and numerous personal best swim times were posted. Every swimmer placed and earned points for our team. What a great team effort!  Thank you for working so hard for your coaches and your teammates.

Event 1: 200yd Medley Relay

The team of Malachi Wang, Vasily Yanovsky, Colin Mejias and Maria Madigan broke 2 minutes and set a school record with a time of 1:59.26.

The team of Anita Axelson, Joshua Jen, Bella Scannapieco and Philip Schidlovsky placed 3rd with a time of 2:20.81

Event 2: 200yd Free

Colin won the event with a time of 1:56.09. Anita swam a personal best time of 2:31.34, which was 6 seconds faster than her previous best swim.

Event 3: 200yd Individual Medley (IM) (Fly, Back, Breast, Free)

Vasily and Keegan had great swims in what many people say is the hardest race. Vasily placed 2nd with a time of 2:12.41 and Keegan earned a 4th place finish with a time of 2:55.18.

Event 4: 50yd Free

Maria, finished 2nd with a time of 28.82, Philip placed 3rd with a personal best time of 30.16 and William Lyu swam a 31.81 and cut more than 7 seconds off his previous best time 

Event 5: 100yd Fly

Malachi set a school record and finished 1st with a time of 1:01.90.

Event 6: 100yd Free

Maria placed 3rd with a time of 1:06.33, Bella swam 1:16.62 and Adeline Edwards swam 1:23.59 in her 1st ever swimming event.

Event 7: 500yd Free

Colin coasted to a win with a time of 5:22.22.

Event 8: 200yd Free Relay

Anita, Keegan, Joshua and Philip placed 2nd with a time of 2:04.90.

Adeline, Bella, John Paul deMarcellus and William placed 3rd with a time of 2:17.64.

Event 9: 100yd Back

Malachi took another Madigan off the record board by swimming a 1:13.90. Anita cut nearly 4 seconds off her time and swam another personal best, by finishing in 1:22.72. 

Event 10: 100yd Breast 

Vasily swam a school record and finished 1st with a time of 1:05.94. Joshua also had a great swim, in which he cut more than 2 seconds and finished with a personal best time of 1:22.31.

Event 11: 400yd Free Relay

The last event is an all out sprint relay and our swimmers did fantastic. The team of Philip, Adeline, Keegan and Joshua finished 4th with a time of 5:04.52. The team of Colin, Maria, Vasily, and Malachi crushed the school record by more than 10 seconds by finishing with a time of 3:56.97. Colin, who swam lead-off for the relay, broke the record in the 100 yd free by finishing the leg in 54.53.
