About our Ministry Partners:
The Wilberforce Senior class will be working alongside the Remanente de Dios church, a nondenominational evangelical church based in Iquitos, Peru. Since its founding 50 years ago, the church has placed an emphasis on missions, carrying the gospel to remote villages along Amazon River tributaries. Today they have planted more than a dozen churches throughout the Amazon jungle, and are involved with pastoral training, children's ministries, evangelism, medical and dental clinics, installing clean-water wells, etc.
About our Trip:
January 8th through the 18th, the Wilberforce Senior class will travel to Peru on a mission trip. We will partner with a local church in Iquitos, Peru and travel upriver to minister among jungle villages. While the people of western Peru are familiar with Christianity, the message of the Gospel has only been known in the remote jungle regions for the last 100 years or so. During the trip students will be doing house to house evangelism and prayer, leading Vacation Bible School, sports ministry with the local children, and helping with church services.
