SPRING MUSICAL
The musical theater program at The Wilberforce School is dedicated to training students in the disciplines of theater, music, and dance to produce art that transforms and inspires.
We seek to use the unique power of storytelling to develop our students as whole persons and to display God's truth and beauty.
The musical theater program builds upon the recitation, public speaking, and dramatic arts training that is inherent in our Lower and Middle School curriculum. Participating in the musical allows students to further develop as actors, singers, and dancers. In accordance with the classical framework, students hone their abilities using tried and true methods guided by dedicated faculty members.
At its heart, theater is about compelling communication. Through inhabiting a character, students learn to communicate with persuasion, collaborate with their peers, and creatively problem solve—skills that will serve them well in any discipline, career, and stage of life. Great actors are marked not just by their technical skill, but also by their vulnerability and empathy. These qualities allow them to grow in their compassion for their fellow man, an understanding of a fallen world, and its need for redemption.
