How to Report a Student Absence

To report an absence, complete the Absentee Form by 9am.

The information provided in the Absentee Form is not shared with teachers. Parents and/or students reach out to the classroom teacher directly to coordinate schoolwork.

After School Program

After 3:05 dismissal, students may attend the After School Program:

  • Drop-in After Care (Lower School) and Study Hall (Middle/Upper School)
  • Clubs - registration required

Lower School students who are not picked up during regular dismissal (3:05-3:15) will go to After Care – $5 for every 5 min will be incurred.

School Pass App Update

Please uninstall that app and download the (updated) SchoolPass app (version 23.6.0).
If you receive an API login error please check on the following:

  1. Make sure that you have updated to SchoolPass 23.6.0.
  2. Be certain that your phone or iPad's operating system is up to date.

This information, along with a wealth of technical and training resources, can be found by logging into your SchoolPass account and clicking on the (?) in the upper right-hand corner.

Instructions for school pass users

Health Guidelines

Students are expected to come to school healthy, well-rested, and ready for class. Students who exhibit any of the following symptoms during the school day will be sent home: lethargic, unable to do schoolwork, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, contagious virus, severe cold. They should not return to school until they are symptom-free and without a fever (without the aid of medication) for at least 24 hours and after one full school day at home. For example, if a student is sent home at 10am on Monday, he/she should not attend school on Tuesday. This guidance is subject to change, and any changes will be communicated to families.

Siblings, if not symptomatic, may attend school.

Students with the following symptoms may not attend school:

  1. Fever of 100° F or higher until fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication
  2. Frequent or loose stools during the previous 24 hours
  3. Abdominal cramps during the previous 24 hours
  4. Vomiting presented with a fever OR vomiting twice in the last 24 hours
  5. Rash with a fever
  6. Sore throat with a fever
  7. Pink or red conjunctiva with white or yellow discharge
  8. Yellow eyes
  9. Draining skin lesions that cannot be covered completely by a waterproof bandage/dressing
  10. Illness that prevents a child from participating in activities (including going outside for recess)
  11. Other illnesses as determined by administration

If your child tests positive for COVID:

Follow the same guidelines as listed above. There are no additional requirements.

Parents should use the guidelines above to determine whether a student should stay at home and when to return to school. Family Portal Login Instructions
  1. Visit the Family Portal
  2. Select "Parent" or "Student"
  3. Enter the district code (TWF-NJ), username, and password (If you forgot your username or password, click “forgot username / password” and type in the district code TWF-NJ and your email. A link will be emailed to you.
  4. Click on the link that says, "Click to create your Family Portal login" - it will say "Click to Change Password" if you already have an account - and create a username and password of your choice.)
  5. Wait 5 minutes, then return to the home page for Family Portal and enter your new username and password.
Emergency Closing & Delays

In the event of a school closing or delayed opening, we will announce a decision by 6am. For an early closing, we will announce a decision by 10:30am.

We notify parents in three ways:

  • Text message (from #22383) through Parent Alert system
  • Email (from "Middle and Upper School")
  • Pop-up notification on our website

The effectiveness of this system relies on the accuracy of the phone numbers and emails you have provided. To verify or change contact information, visit Family Portal. Instructions for how to make changes is under "Announcements."
 

What happens when there is a 90-minute delayed opening?

  • Doors open at 9:25am
  • Classes officially begin at 9:40am
  • Regular dismissals at 12:30 and 3:05
  • After school clubs and sports will meet


What happens when there is an emergency early dismissal?

  • All students dismiss at 12:30pm
  • All after school activities are cancelled, including Explorers Bridge, After School Program, and athletic practices/games
     
Continuous Re-Enrollment

Wilberforce employs a continuous re-enrollment model. Students will automatically be re-enrolled unless the school is notified of changes.

What Are School Hours?

8:10am-3:05pm. Doors open at 7:30am.

A late fee is applied if parents pick up their student(s) after 3:15pm (LS parents only). After 3:15pm, students are sent to after-school programs.

Do You Offer School Transportation?
Wilberforce does not offer transportation, but actively supports carpooling by connecting parents in similar zip codes to arrange carpool. Use the FACTS family portal directory to sort by zip code.
What Is Your Cell Phone Policy for Students?
We have a no-cell-phone policy during school hours. To contact your student during the day, please call or email the Front Desk.
How Does the School Handle Nut Allergies?

We are committed to building a safe environment for all students, particularly for those who have peanut and nut allergies. While we are not a nut-free school, we implement a series of procedures to reduce unnecessary risks.

Where Do I Pick-up My Middle & Upper School Students?

Middle & Upper School students will be dismissed at 3:05pm to the front of Building 1. Please join the pick up line in the front of Building 2.
